About This Trip
After a peaceful morning of movement, meditation, and mindfulness instruction, each day includes fun rafting, contemplative hikes, and delicious meals. At camp in the evenings, we’ll gather beside the river for a talk on mindfulness and then a period of meditation before settling into silence for the night. Experiencing intentional silence in the wilderness is a rare and special opportunity that supports letting go of the natural stresses of everyday life. Suitable for both new and seasoned practitioners, just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.
The Cataract Canyon Mindfulness Retreat starts with leisurely floating through the peaceful waters of Meander Canyon to the confluence of the Green River, allowing plenty of time for quiet reflection from the rafts, inflatable kayaks, or a stand-up paddleboard, before tackling the famous rapids of Cataract Canyon further downstream. We’ll be treated to interpretive talks as we hike up gorgeous slot canyons and visit archeological sites along the way, offering the perfect opportunity to connect with yourself, each other, and the natural world.
We’ll marvel at the geological wonders that await us as we make our way downstream, with magnificent scenery comparable to Grand Canyon. We’ll camp on pristine beaches, enjoy delicious meals, have time for contemplative practice, and connect with fellow passengers, sharing an incredible experience in the wilderness.
Please note that there will be no red meat on the menu for this trip. In support of our contemplative practice and our time together, this trip will be free from alcohol and drugs and includes extended periods of silence from the end of the evening through breakfast the next day.
