JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title: Vernal Logistics Coordinator
Department: Field Operations
Reports to: Vernal Operations Managers
# of Direct Reports: None
Location (if applicable): Vernal, Utah
Job Status: Seasonal full time, Non-exempt
Rate of Pay: $18 – $21 per hour, depending on experience

 

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is designed to work with the Vernal Management team to coordinate shop tasks including equipment and boat repair, maintain vehicles and trailers, assist with on-river needs, as well as rigs and de-rigs. Additional duties include driving trucks &/or vans to and from river trips and assisting with the driver’s schedule.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT

 

  • April 17 – September 15, 2023; generally Monday – Friday, 11am – 7:30pm (with 30 minute meal break)

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • River Equipment: 
    • Working with the Vernal Management team to order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies necessary for equipment repairs
    • Coordinating pre- and post-trip equipment repair
    • Coordinating boat repair, including keeping up-to-date boat inspection &  maintenance logs
    • Annual inventory of all river equipment
  • Vehicles and Drivers 
    • Ensure each vehicle has current registration, insurance card, fuel card, and required safety equipment
    • Help prepare vehicles and trailers for rigs and de-rigs
    • Schedule routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations for vehicles and trailers; keep an up-to-date maintenance log for each
    • Assist the Vernal Management team with driver training
    • Maintain driver qualification files, including a Job Training Checklist for all drivers
    • Maintain and review vehicle inspection reports
    • Maintain driver logs
    • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for routine, on-site vehicle and trailer
    • Assist with Drivers daily schedule
  • Shop 
    • Repair and upkeep of building and grounds; maintain inventory of shop supplies
    • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure safe operation
    • Keep track of all tools that leave warehouse and ensure they are returned
    • Maintain Job Training Checklist for warehouse staff
    • Occasionally be on-call for emergency communication from river trips
  • Pre- and Post-season 
    • Coordinate a thorough inspection and cleaning of all river equipment; repair or replace as needed
    • Post-season winterization of vehicles

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Applicants must possess a current Driver License
  • Possess or obtain a DOT Medical certificate
  • Clean driving record
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Effective communicator
  • Basic understanding of trucks, vans, and trailers
  • Working knowledge of river trips and their associated gear (preferred, not required)
  • Experience with power tools (preferred, not required)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Heavy lifting of boating equipment and warehouse supplies
  • Extreme weather, ranging from winter-like conditions to very hot temperatures during the summer months
  • Stressful working conditions due to dynamic working environments, changes to schedules, evacuations etc.
