Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special

Grassy Island is my favorite camp. We kayak across Jackson Lake 7 miles to access it. There, you are surrounded by mountains that rise straight out of the lake and into the sky 6000 feet. At night, you can see the outline of the peaks in a night sky that is not effected by light pollution. One morning, a moose walked right through camp while we were cooking pancakes. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like it is a real place, but it is, and I get to spend my summer visiting and bringing new people to this incredible place!

What can you not live without on a trip?

A camp dress. It is always fun to have a dress up night on a trip. A critical part of guiding is looking good.

Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory

One of our hikes follows Moran Creek through Moran Canyon, and I have not seen another person on it. Although, I have seen plenty of wildlife and signs of wildlife!
