What’s the best part of your job?
Working in a beautiful place with some of the greatest humans I have ever met.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
At almost one mile in length, Elk Horn rapid on the Main Salmon is fun at all water levels and in all crafts. It will keep you on your toes no matter what!
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
My New Zealand greenstone necklace. I always feel a little luckier with it around my neck.
What can you not live without on a trip?
I always have my watercolors and pens close at hand so that I can capture in paint a special moment in time on the river. And my handmade, travel-sized cribbage board of course!
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory
Waking up to a thunderstorm that was rolling into camp at the same time as the sun was rising. The colors of the clouds and the feeling in the air, I’ll never forget that energy.
About me…
When I’m not on the river, you can find me nestled amongst a busy workspace full of wood, leather, thread, yarn, paper, pen, and paint. I am a maker and small-business owner who specializes in leather work. You can find my work here: smallorygoods.com
