Year started at OARS?
What’s the best part of your job?
I get to do what I love all summer long and meet amazing people along the way.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
My favorite camp is called Magpie and it’s on the Main Fork of the Salmon. It is special because it is right on the line between two ecosystems which means that it is home to the largest variety of plants and animals on the Main Salmon. In addition to that, I grew up on the river and some of my first memories are at this camp playing in the sand.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I have a necklace that I’ve worn on every river trip for the past 8 years now. It reminds me of home and I think it instills some confidence when I put it on.
What can you not live without on a trip?
