What’s the best part of your job?
I get to spend my summers in my favorite places with my favorite people and I get to meet new incredible people along the way.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
My favorite camp is called Magpie and it’s on the Main Fork of the Salmon. It is special because it is right on the line between two ecosystems which means that it is home to the largest variety of plants and animals on the Main Salmon. In addition to that, I grew up on the river and some of my first memories are at this camp playing in the sand.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
My parents gave me a necklace for my 13th birthday that has been on every major trip I’ve taken since.
What can you not live without on a trip?
Sunscreen! I turn into a lobster without it…
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory
I bring musical instruments on every trip–the river is my favorite place to play.
About me…
When I’m not guiding, I work as a ski patroller on Mt. Hood and I travel the world with my kayak chasing whitewater.
