OARS is proud to announce its partnership with Brave Trails in honor of Pride Month this year. Throughout the month of June, the veteran river outfitter will donate $5 for every guest who rafts with them Sunday through Friday on the South Fork of the American River in California, directly supporting Brave Trails’ mission to build the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders.

“Pride is about visibility, empowerment, and community,” said Steve Markle, OARS Vice President and head of Sales and Marketing. “We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and welcome on the river and we couldn’t be happier to support Brave Trails and the incredible work they’re doing to uplift LGBTQ+ youth.”

Brave Trails is a national nonprofit dedicated to LGBTQ+ youth leadership, offering summer camps, mentorship programs, and mental health services that foster confidence, community, and resilience. This partnership marks a shared commitment to inclusion, representation, and the transformative power of outdoor adventure.

“Brave Trails is excited to partner with OARS this Pride Month,” said Jessica Weissbuch, Co-founder and Executive Director of Brave Trails. “Their commitment to creating inclusive outdoor spaces for all is truly inspiring. We’re honored to collaborate with an organization that shares our values and helps empower LGBTQ+ youth through nature and adventure.”

OARS invites everyone to join them on the water this June—whether you’re a seasoned paddler or first-time adventurer. Not only will guests experience the thrill of California whitewater, but they’ll also help support a more inclusive outdoor space for future generations.

In 2024, OARS launched LGBTQ multi-day rafting trips and has worked to promote inclusive spaces in the outdoors through previous partnerships with the Sacramento LGBT Community Center and Justice Outside as well as projects like the short film, “Canyon Chorus.”
