Stars & Guitars in Cataract Canyon

Join OARS for a unique exploration of Cataract Canyon and the speckled heavens above Canyonlands National Park, a Gold-Tier International Dark Sky Park. OARS astronomy trips are scheduled around the new moon to allow for optimal stargazing opportunities and joining this departure will be veteran OARS guides, Pete Lefebvre and Dave Garcia—both talented musicians and astronomy enthusiasts. They’ll put their laser pointers and guitars to good use each night as they take you on entertaining and enriching exploration of the cosmos. With access to clear, dark skies undiminished by urban light pollution, you’ll witness a star display like you’ve never seen before.

Plus, you’ll experience all the best aspects of a Cataract Canyon rafting trip including SUPing through Meander Canyon, side hikes to incomparable vistas, riverside camps on big, sandy beaches, OARS infamous guides and hearty meals, a rollicking run through Cataract Canyon’s Class III-IV whitewater and finally, a breath-taking flight back to Moab.
