Professional River Guide
Where did you grow up?
Virginia
Where do you call home now?
Idaho in the summer and Telluride, Colorado in the winter.
Year started at OARS?
2019
What’s the best part of your job?
My fellow guides. I wouldn’t trade anything for the friendships I’ve made working for OARS.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special.
My favorite whitewater rapid on the Main Salmon is Black Creek. I love it because it’s fun at every level. Some rapids are only out at specific river levels, but Black Creek is always a hoot.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I have a small flat rock that I’ve kept in my PFD since my first training trip. It was a gift.
What can you not live without on a trip?
I bring my feather pillow on every trip. I don’t mess around with a good nights sleep.
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory.
I’m terrified of swimming with fish.
About me…
I work as a ski instructor in the off season.
