Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special

My favorite rapid on the South Fork American River is Meat Grinder. I absolutely love greasing through that rapid just to spin around and admire how long and beautiful that rapid is.

Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?

Every morning when we’re rigging boats, I kiss my hand, bend down and wave it around in the river to pay homage to Mother Nature and give thanks for another day enjoying the river and all its beauty.

What can you not live without on a trip?

My water bottle!
