What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is watching the changes in our guests from Day 1 to the end of a river trip. These trips are often a brand new experience for our guests and seeing people react to the “river magic” keeps me loving my job.

Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special

My favorite hike from any river is the Doll House just above the first rapid of Cataract Canyon. It is a steep and challenging hike that gives everyone a true sense of accomplishment. The view from the top is unbeatable! My favorite Rapid is probably Granite Rapid in the Grand Canyon. I don’t often feel the sensation of “speed” in a raft, but that is one fast rapid!

Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?

Nope – I’ve never been superstitious.

What can you not live without on a trip?

My guitar. It’s great to be able to play music every now and then on a river trip.

Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory

Some of my favorite memories from trips are singing songs around the camp fire. I love to sing and play guitar. It’s even better when guests join in the fun and sing with me!
