Position Summary

Lotus Food Room Supervisor

The Lotus Food Room Supervisor is responsible for supporting the overall needs of the commissary and presentation of nutritious and fulfilling meals, both on and off the river. Whether you want to gain food handling experience or have worked in any type of food service positions, you will constantly find new challenges and opportunities to expand your skill set while working at our American River Outpost. The Food Packer role is vital to the success of that mission.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $18.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience

Term of Employment

  • Full-Time: Late April-Mid September (dates are flexible)
    • Some weekend work will be required
    • 30-40 hours a week

Working Conditions

  • The OARS American River operation experiences extreme weather, ranging from winter conditions, including early season snow and freezing temperatures, to triple-digit heat during the summer months
  • Wildfires are a common occurrence and can drastically diminish air quality
  • The Food Room is a shared workspace where interruptions can be frequent
  • Workspace temperatures can vary greatly, oftentimes working in cold storage as well as outdoors. You will be working independently most of the time.
  • Most of the day is spent on your feet bending, reaching, lifting, and stretching

Essential Duties

  • Effectively use our meal-planning software and reservations system.
  • Awareness of dietary and allergy restrictions
  • Monitor inventory, portion, and pack meals to be used on- and off-site daily
  • Maintain commissary with a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency
  • Shop and purchases supplies for single and multi-day trips
  • Coordinate box store trips for supplies as needed
  • Adhere to National and California Food Handling Standards
  • Occasional duties might include assisting with meal setup and serving to guests on occasion 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managers

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 21 years old
  • Current Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Currently, we can only accept applicants who can legally work in the United States
  • Experience or willingness to work in food service industry
  • Knowledge of current food trends and special dietary needs a plus
  • Physically fit (must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis)
  • Team player
  • Solid communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Creative approach to problem solving
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuating hours of work on a daily basis
  • Must possess or be willing to acquire CA Food Handlers License within 14 days of hire
