Where did you grow up?
Where do you call home now?
Year started at OARS?
What’s the best part of your job?
Everything. What better job could there be than when you take people out of their urban life for a vacation in the outdoors?
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
Upset Rapid. Before the rapid there is usually a good time spent in one of my favorite canyons, Matkatamiba Canyon, relaxing and enjoying a truly special place. Then back to the rafts and down a straight northernly route of the Colorado River until a left bend and a beautiful rapid. Late sunlight on the rapid is unbelievable, but just one heck of a fun rapid as well.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I have a small bucket with a strap connected to it called the Fulmer Foot.
What can you not live without on a trip?
My boat tent. Essential.
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory
Hiking up Bright Angel trail with Yak-Traks attached to my Chacos because of ice and snow the last five miles in December. Ichthyology and Ornithology.
