What’s the best part of your job?

Being in the Moment on any given day/ any given river. All senses are elevated and I feel most at home here. I love meeting new folks and sharing these very special places.

Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special

Hermit Rapid on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon is a stand-out, for sure. There is so much energy/power that is often leaves passengers and guides..speechless…(until the tail-waves and we’re all shouting like cowboys and girls!) “O.M.G!, let’s go do that again!”

I love Stone Creek Camp/Canyon. It feels like the heart of the Canyon to me, in many forms.

Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?

The River always gets the first sip of beverage when celebrating day’s end at camp. Ravens and Great blue Herons are “Good Omen” Characters for me.

What can you not live without on a trip?

Singing. Laughter. Whoo-Hoo-ing!

Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory

Getting the chance to meet Martin Litton on the River and a chance to float with him for a week. He had a huge influence on how my life has been shaped, not to mention his efforts in speaking our for wild places and preserving them for future generations.
