About me
I did it backwards - spent my earlier years grinding in the corporate world before chucking it all for the excitement of whitewater guiding. I'm passionate about the outdoors and am in awe of what nature provides on every trip. I enjoy meeting folks from all over the world and love hearing their stories. I'm definitely a windows down and music up kind of guy! I also own a coffee roasting company in Tieton, WA, that keeps me busy!
The Best Part of My Job
Watching guests change and seeing them become completely different people by the end of the trip!
How I found OARS
I was a guest on a Grand Canyon trip in 2002 with Regan, Roger, and Ote Dale. That planted the seed, and 19 years later, I finally became an OARS guide!
My Favorite Spot on the River/Outdoors
A camp where you can watch the sun climb and fade up the canyon walls.
My Favorite Trip Memory
I had a guest who used to travel with Evel Knievel and got shot out of a cannon at Circus Circus Casino in the 1970s. I still keep in touch with him. It's now on my bucket list of things to do!
Favorite River Tradition
I generally don't like flipping the gear boat. I call that a tradition.
I Can’t Live Without
Never leave the launch without genuine Haribo gummy bears in the drybag!
My Fun Fact
I was an aerospace executive in my past life.
