About me
Whitewater has been a major driver in my life's trajectory, both professionally and recreationally, for over 20 years. This pursuit has found me on rivers in the southeast, southwest, northwest, central and southern America, and the subcontinent. Being a travel RN has added a lot of balance, flexibility, and stability to my lifestyle, and I love applying myself in that setting as well. When I'm not floating or working in the hospital, I'll be giving my guitar exercise. Ask me sometime about my former "career" as a radio DJ.
The Best Part of My Job
As is with my off-season job, it allows me to meet folks where they're at. River trips have a way of unlocking people; therein lies a beautiful opportunity for discovery and learning. I love that.
How I found OARS
Just stuck my thumb out and here I am! Lord have mercy on my rough and rowdy ways!
My Favorite Spot on the River/Outdoors
There's a little alcove/wash on river left just above Tuckup Camp on Grand Canyon. My friend Max showed it to me last time I was down there. Big cool slabs to nap on in the shade and a crystal clear pothole. It's like a cathedral. Don't camp there in monsoon season, though.
My Favorite Trip Memory
That's hard to say; it likely involves terrible weather.
My Lucky Charm
If I tell you, it'll get lost on my next trip.
I Can’t Live Without
COFFEE. It's a problem.
My Fun Fact
I love restoring vintage road bikes, and If I could ride the Harley everywhere, I would.
