A seasoned wordsmith, Cari has written for a number of organizations over the years, including the National Park Foundation, Calaveras Visitors Bureau and nationally syndicated radio show, The Kathleen Show. Before joining OARS, she worked as a PR consultant and was honored with several awards from the PRSA and the Association for Women in Communications.

Best camps “Brown Betty is a gigantic beach right at the first rapid. That has to be my favorite. But my other favorite is Kolb Camp. You only camp there at medium to lower flows, because at higher flows it’s underwater, but it’s right between Big Drop 2 and Big Drop 3. There is a big inscription from the Kolb Brothers when they came through there in 1911. So there’s some history there. You’re also between the two biggest rapids. You can feel the energy. It’s just a really powerful place.”
