India’s Zanskar River flows from the snows of the Himalaya to the confluence with the mighty Indus. As you travel this timeless landscape, ancient history, spirituality and culture are interwoven with high adventure for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Zanskar River Rafting Itinerary at a Glance:
- Meet at airport and transfer to hotel
- Fly to Srinagar; check into our deluxe houseboats;
- Tour local temples
- Visit Mughal Gardens before driving over Zojila Pass and on to Kargil Hotel
- Ascend to Rangdum and our fixed tented camp
- Visit Randgum Gompa then travel on to Remala and the put-in; camp riverside at Karsha
- Visit Karsha Gompa; raft to Padum; shop for Tibetan wares
- Raft 25 miles of Class III/IV whitewater over next three days; possible side hike to Nyerag for Tibetan-style rug weaving demo
- At the confluence with the Indus River, take-out and return to Leh with stops at monasteries en route
- Visit Hemis Gompa and Thiksey monastery
- See the two-story-high copper statue of Buddha at Shey Gompa before returning to Leh
- Return flight to Delhi; visit the Jama Mosque and Red Fort
- Farewell lunch and unique off-the-beaten-path tour of Delhi before last night's lodging for those not choosing to fly out on this day
