Professional River Guide

What’s the best part of your job?
I love the escape of the natural world and the mellowness that comes from being in Mother Nature. And I love that I get to share those beautiful moments with wonderful people… family, friends, awesome co-workers, and of course the amazing guests that come to visit.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
I love the huge waves of Hospital Bar on the South Fork of the American. However, it is during the in-between moments on flat water that I really feel at one with the river and in tune with the flow of life.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I always try to remember that rafting is like being in a constant dance with the river. And she is in the lead.
What can you not live without on a trip?
Water, sunscreen, and a first aid kit.
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory
Guiding is a part-time job for me. And even though I wish I could be up on the river every day, I feel very blessed to be able to have the greatest second job that anyone can have.
