What’s the best part of your job?

Being able to enjoy and share these very special places that have been protected by generations before us knowing that we can help them stay the same for generations to come. Sleeping under the stars on a moonless night is pretty awesome too.

Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special

Rippling Brook camp in Lodore Canyon on the Green River! It has everything I would look for in a river camp…Huge beach, big swimming hole, great side hike, shaded tent sites, towering canyon walls…and usually we get there early in the day to have plenty of time to enjoy all of it.

Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?

I am not overly superstitious, I just try to never lose respect for the whitewater or canyons that we traverse. If you do, the river will quickly remind you where the real power lies.

What can you not live without on a trip?

A good sun hat/polarized sunglasses combo.

Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory

I sew some of my own river gear, am a pretty good juggler and just like most of us, consider myself an excellent cook.
