Where did you grow up?
I didn’t 😉
Where do you call home now?
Half time Flagstaff, Arizona; half time in our off-grid home in Australia where the Man From Snowy River was filmed.
Year started at OARS?
What’s the best part of your job?
Sharing the river magic that feeds my soul with others, and smiling as I consider the fact that I have one of the rare jobs where I dread retirement.
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
Whatever rapid, hike or camp I’m on or in is my favourite. When things are working as they should, they help focus me on the present rather than all that other BS, because the present is better than anywhere else on earth. Clears the mind, shakes the spirit, makes me thankful for a life most people only dream of.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
See my story on the OARS website or online: Andre’s Red Knickers. http://www.thecleanestline.com/2013/05/andres-red-knickers-a-story-about-boatmens-rituals.html
What can you not live without on a trip?
Pards. Colleagues. Compatriots. Comrades. Characters. Smiles. That magic moment when someone just looks over at you and you feel the flush; yep, they got it! Oh, and just a nip of scotch whilst the stars wheel over the rims.
