Professional River Guide
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Pinole, California. Go Spartans!
Where do you call home now?
Currently, I’m split between Lotus and Pinole.
Year started at OARS?
What’s the best part of your job?
The best part about my job is that I learn something new every day. Also, the people are great, the river is wonderful, and being outside all the time is pretty freakin’ fantastic.
Do you have a favorite outdoor spot you go to in your free time?
My personal favorite outdoor spot is a tiny one. There’s this short trail that’s pretty hidden right by my place in Pinole and it is my total happy place. Whenever I need a breather, that’s where I go to think things through and clear my head.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I do! My lucky charm is a ring that my best friend gave me. Whenever I feel alone or nervous, I twist my ring and know she’s got my back.
What can you not live without while at work or on a trip?
I absolutely cannot live without Chapstick. A day without that stuff, and I look like SpongeBob in Sandy’s dome. It’s crazy!
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding/trip memory.
A fun fact about me is that I played the flute in my high school marching band and marched in the San Francisco Chinese New Year parade!
When I’m not working you can usually find me with my friends playing DnD (it’s dorky, but so fun), writing screenplays, or hiking.
