What’s the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is that it hardly feels like a job at all. I’m out doing what I love with amazing people by my side. I live for starry nights and misty mornings and the river never disappoints!
Tell us about your favorite rapid, hike or camp and what makes it special
My all time favorite hike is the Thunder River to Deer Creek trail on the Colorado River. It’s 7 hours and takes you through 3 breathtaking landscapes. It rocked my world.
Do you have a lucky charm or special river tradition?
I have a superhero shirt/cape that I wear every time we run Blossom Bar. It’s our toughest and most consequential rapid, so I like to channel my inner Wonder Woman. It has yet to let me down!
What can you not live without on a trip?
Pen and paper. There is nothing like being in the wilderness to inspire a bounty of philosophical thoughts!
Fun fact, special talent or favorite guiding memory
In the off-season I use the excuse of being an adventure travel writer in order to guiltlessly galavant across the globe. If there is a river, a mountain and a taco stand, I’m there! You can find me at www.wanderingwithcarly.com
