OARS, one of the most trusted and respected outfitters in adventure travel, is seeking a full time Systems Administrator for our main office in Angels Camp, CA to provide technical support and perform systems administration on technology that allows the company to sell life-changing adventure travel experiences.


The Systems Administrator for OARS will be the front line for all technical support requests and part of a team that is responsible for maintaining all network hardware & software. The Systems Administrator analyzes, troubleshoots and resolves system hardware, software and networking issues while being pro-active and customer service-oriented. Additional direct duties as part of the Information Technology department include:


  • Installing, configuring, updating, optimizing, monitoring and maintaining server, workstation and networking hardware and software, including software patches, upgrades, and security updates
  • Ensuring network security by using anti-malware solutions, intrusion detection, and preventive measures
  • Performing & maintaining system backups and testing recovery processes
  • Maintaining user accounts and managing permissions & access control across the company
  • Training end-users on hardware, software, and phone equipment as well as I.T. policies while also writing and maintaining detailed systems documentation, including procedures & technical manuals
  • Maintaining an inventory of installed software, licenses and all computer equipment
  • Performing other related activities and tasks as assigned



  • Three or more years of “hands-on” systems administration and technical support experience
  • Associate’s degree or higher, and Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco certifications preferred
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities with a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills (will interact daily with a diverse team of office colleagues and remote staff)
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment with or without direct supervision
  • Solid understanding of a Windows-based network including servers, workstations, LAN/WAN/wireless networking, security, and Microsoft Office software
  • Helpful to have an understanding of database technologies (including FileMaker & SQL), Mac & Linux operating systems, and programming/scripting experience
