Rogue Ales and Spirits | Newport, OR

Rogue Ales and Spirits was founded in 1988 by Jack Joyce, Bob Woodell, Rob Strasser, and Jeff Schultz, and for over 30 years has been at the forefront of Oregon’s thriving beer industry, winning more than 2000 awards for taste, quality, and packaging. At Rogue, “We believe in getting our hands dirty and doing the job ourselves.” This includes being the only brewery-distillery in the country to cooper their own barrels at their Rolling Thunder Barrel Works

Over the years, Rogue has created more than 60 different ales and has collaborated with organizations such as Dark Horse Comics and Portland’s famous Voodoo Doughnut to create delicious and unique craft beers perfect for any occasion. And with Rogue’s mantra of, “Dare. Risk. Dream. Dare more than others think is wise. Risk more than others think is safe. Dream more than others think is practical,” we can’t think of a more perfect fit for a thrilling whitewater rafting adventure on the Rogue River.

Southern Oregon’s Rogue River flows 215 miles from its headwaters near Crater Lake to the Pacific Ocean. As it makes its way through the Wild & Scenic section amidst the lushly forested Siskiyou Mountains of old-growth conifers and meadows, abundant wildlife can be found. Playful river otters, merganser ducks, black-tailed deer, turtles and black bear are often within sight, and majestic osprey and bald eagles can sometimes be seen fighting for a freshly-caught salmon overhead.

The Rogue’s exciting Class III rapids and warm water lend itself to a variety of water craft including spunky inflatable kayaks, exciting paddle rafts and oar rafts which are ideal for folks who wish to relax while the guide rows. Swimming, hiking, fishing and historical points of interest abound along the way. Camping on one of the sandy beaches along the river offers the perfect setting for relaxing with a refreshing beer. Ahhh, the Rogue might just be the perfect Oregon river trip.
