Position Title: American River Campground Host and Retail Coordinator

Job Status: Seasonal, non-exempt
Salary/Rate: $15.50 – $19.50 per hour, depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY:
The River Campground Host and Retail Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of store sales, rentals, general cleaning, light maintenance and campground assignments for the American River Outpost.
ESSENTIAL STORE CLERK DUTIES:
- Open and close retail store daily
- Greet guests when they arrive and answer questions, direct them to check in locations
- Point of contact for guests and awareness of overall trips and area is required
- Process sales transactions with POS system accurately
- Maintain and organize stock throughout store
- Arrange special sale and clearance items at the front of the store for maximum visibility
- Regularly communicate with other OARS staff
- Keep store clean and orderly
ESSENTIAL CAMPGROUND HOST DUTIES:
- Greet and check in rafters and campers
- Assign campsites and issue camping gear rentals
- Clean and store rentals
- Clean and maintain bathrooms and showers
- Stock restroom with supplies
- Maintain and clean platform tents and surrounding area; including creek and walkways
- Launder sleeping bags, sheets and towels as needed
- Perform general basic campground and campsite cleanup as needed
- Empty trash cans and oversee recycling as needed
- Enforce campground rules (campfires, smoking, quiet hours, etc.)
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ideal candidates must be friendly, good with people and detail-oriented and able to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
- Excellent communications skills combined with an outgoing and friendly personality
- Ability to proactively address camp or trip related questions or concerns
- Ability to adapt as details change unexpectedly throughout the day; comfortable in dynamic environments
- Ability to self-delegate effectively
- Legally able to work in the United States and speak fluent English
- Available to work from Memorial Day through Labor Day and adapt to changing schedules including weekends
- Clean and presentable appearance
- Physically fit as required to fulfill job duties in an arid environment
- Basic computer knowledge
- “Handyperson” skills are a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The OARS American River operation experiences extreme weather, ranging from winter conditions, including early season snow and freezing temperatures, to triple-digit heat during the summer months
- Wildfires are a common occurrence and can drastically diminish air quality
- Must be able to regularly lift at least 50 lbs

PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT:
- One position: full-time seasonal (30-40 hours/week) May 15th-Sept 15th
- One position: part-time seasonal (15-30 hour/week) May 15th-Sept 15th
- Terms can be variable, however Memorial Day to Labor Day is key season
- At least one weekend day is required per week
