THE CALL OF THE WILD - A SOLO TRAVEL ADVENTURE TOUR THAT HELPS YOU KEEP YOUR OARS IN THE WATER

BY: Dwight Brown

For singles who want to get back in touch with nature, the calm refuge of an adventure tour through Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks might be the ticket.

O.A.R.S. Singles Vacations Yellowstone/Grand Teton Multi-Sport trips take singles (in groups of 12; average age: late thirties to fifties) sea kayaking, rafting, sightseeing, hiking and exploring.

Paddle Play: Participants paddle six to eight miles a day in one or two-person sea kayaks. It’s a low-impact, non-technical, easy-to-learn activity on Yellowstone and Jackson Lakes with wild life observation in full view. A support boat follows the group, in case you prefer to hitch a ride.

River Rafting: The 13-mile scenic float down the Snake River that offers gorgeous views of the Grand Tetons is not to be confused with the far-less-mellow white-water river rafting trips. These are serene excursions.

Walk Like This: Hikers are offered trails that match with their level of experience—from valley-floor flat trails to steep hikes for the most avid adventurers.

Nature’s Bounty on Display: Old Faithful Geyser, Lower Geyser Basin, steaming fumaroles, bear, bison, moose, beavers, bald eagles, pine trees, cottonwoods and mountainscapes are the crowning glory of Wyoming’s wildlife and rich geography.

Camping It Up: Start your day with fresh coffee, French toast, omelets made-to-order and end it with grilled salmon, mushroom risotto and pineapple upside-down cake. Return to a campfire after a day of adventure and enjoy gourmet meals that give you a chance to mingle and reminisce. Organic products from the local Jackson area fill the menu. National Park rules mean that beer and wine are strictly B.Y.O.B. for guests.

What’s In It For You: A great opportunity to travel independently, with plenty of moments for self-reflection inspired by mother nature’s best creations in two of America’s most popular national parks— without the crowds. O.A.R.S.’s special concessions with Park Service gives you exclusive access to private camps on Jackson Lake that other commercial outfitters can not enter.
