"First and foremost let me state that the trip exceeded my expectations irrespective of the fact that it was exploratory. I found it to be well organized and choreographed overall with sound leadership on the part of Kate, James, Sasha and Vladimir.
I also found our group to be very diversified, engaging, interesting and for the most part very flexible to the itinerary and any “trip conditions” which arose and can arise in an excursion of this nature.
All in all, a spectacular trip, well run with just the right amount of culture and sport.

“My wife and I just returned from a 3-day trip on the Tuolumne and wanted to tell you what a fantastic time we had. Everything really was outstanding, from the skill of the guides to the quality of the food. Our fearless leader was a standout in every way. He was funny, but clearly in control. He knew how to calm the concerns of nervous clients, while making sure that all of us got to experience all the thrills the river has to offer. He was well informed on everything riparian, from local river issues to legends and even some salty river guide jokes. "The entire trip was awesome. Fantastic river but luxury in the camps. The "cabins" and tree houses were very different from sleeping on the beaches which I also enjoyed in the past. The luxury of this trip will be hard to beat. The guides were excellent. Impressed by the safety of all the activities. Equipment in great shape. “I have a bad habit of building up my expectations going into a trip like this only to be let down, but that was not the case on this trip. It exceded my expectations and then some. While the Galapagos Islands are an amazing destination, my sense is that it can be a little tricky to navigate the local geography and weather not to mention the politics. Our guides did it seamlessly. My dad, my brother, and I have been talking about going to the Galapagos for over 20 years - it was great!”

“The wonder of discovery...We were allowed to discover the wildlife or
scenery ourselves - I enjoyed sharing the world with wildlife. The crew
were amazing. They seemed to predict what we needed before we knew it. I
was particularly impressed with the small details of assistance we
received. (N) is a wonderful, calm, supportive and caring woman. She was
inspiring throughout, carefully allowing us to experience the thrill of
the wonders. I learnt a lot from her that will be carried into the rest
of my life. She made sure that if we asked questions that she did not
have ready answers for she would consult and explore further and then
return to the question with answers. That was fantastic! (J) was the
perfect naturalist. His love of nature and the islands always shone, he

“We just completed our first trip through the Grand Canyon. O.A.R.S. was recommended by some friends of ours in Hawaii. We’ve been on several different rafting trips but this was the first with O.A.R.S. and through the Canyon. The trip was exciting and everything about it was wonderful. All the guides worked their tails off and made this a very special trip for all of us. We couldn’t get over how hard everybody had to work. Every detail was taken care of. The meals were wonderful and the crew did all their work without any complaints.
Safety was always a concern. Never did we feel any concerns, because the crew was always on top of everything.

“I enjoyed the vast natural splendor of the canyon, the river, the flora
and the fauna. All of it! All the OARS crew was competent, courteous,
and friendly and was obviously copasetic with one another and the
clients. The food was very high quality...and certainly, quantity. All
the equipment was in great working order. I have been on four
commercially guided floats. None better in any respect. Hope you will

"Bronco" did an excellent job of staying on top of the entire trip.
Being a trip leader is obviously a major responsibility ...and he did an
excellent job. Nick, particularly, did an exceptional job in all
regards; he clearly has great leadership skills. He is an excellent
naturalist. Also, he gave two historical presentations. Seldom have I
ever heard anyone do such an exceptional job of narrating a large amount
of facts (and lore) as smoothly and interestingly, as Nick did. I told
him so, more than once. He showed smart skills in handling his boat, as

“The trip leader and staff were fantastic. They were always helpful and
had positive attitudes. Personally, I enjoyed tackling the rapids in the
ducky! The inflatable kayak was a blast! This was my first whitewater
kayaking of any type, and I went through those monster rapids. The
biggest adrenaline rush I've ever had! My 15 year old daughter loved the
whole trip, from the food to having a try at rowing the raft, to
hanging out in camp. The food was great of course.”

“The scenery was beautiful and we were able to travel into the
backcountry with guides who knew what they were doing. It was nice that
everything was planned for us -- where we would camp, what we would eat.
The guides were great -- made me laugh and were so helpful. They really
work their butts off. You can't beat how beautiful that area is and to
camp on that island right under the Tetons was just wonderful. Grassy
was my favorite campsite. I also enjoyed the hikes we did. I loved the
food and liked that there were always snacks. It was fun eating lunch on
our kayaks.”
