On this unique adventure, you’ll explore some of the more incredible sites of Laos and Thailand that most travelers miss. On the water, we’ll find Class IV whitewater, vibrant jungle scenery and perhaps even a school of elusive Irrawaddy dolphins. Off the water, we will immerse ourselves in every aspect of the culture, ranging from metropolitan Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Luang Prabang to secluded country villages and French colonial ruins. Each moment is filled with something new, with elaborate Buddhist temples, tremendous waterfalls and stunning scenery, all framed by the rich cultural backdrop of Southeast Asia.

World Rivers: Thailand & Laos - Itinerary at a Glance

  • Arrive in Bangkok. Tour the city and visit the Wat Po temple and the Royal Barge Museum
  • Fly to Nan for two days of Class II-IV+ rafting on the Nam Wa River
  • Tour the famous temples of Nan, including the Wat Phumin and the Theraveda Buddhist temple of Wat Phrathat
  • Fly to Luang Prabang and luxuriate in the spacious rooms of Villa Pumalin
  • Explore the spiritual capital of Laos, Luang Prabang
  • Paddle down the Nam Xeuang
  • Home stay with the Khmu hill tribe in the remote river village of Ban Houa Sking
  • Explore the Bolaven Plateau
