Grande Ronde River
More...
Overview
Watch summer awaken. Rafting the late spring waters of the Wallowa River and Grande Ronde, which torrent out of the peaks and bowls of the Eagle Cap Wilderness, experience the annual reemergence of mountain life. Birds, bear, elk, deer - some nurturing newborns - wildflowers, fresh grassland and forest...this is springtime in the hinterlands of Northeast Oregon. Trickling tributaries and roaring creeks are within a short hike. Deep, swirling fishing holes hide along the banks of streams and creek mouths. The Grande Ronde also offers access to spectacular vistas that include hoodoos; looming spires sculpted by the elements over eons.
