What to Do in Northern California

SACRAMENTO Raft Celluloid Rapids

Brave the rapids of the mighty Colorado River, filmed for the first time in IMAX 3-D for the new documentary Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk, which premieres March 21 on the Esquire's IMAX super-screen. Follow conservationist Robert Kennedy and his daughter as they paddle 226 miles of the canyon gorge in the film whose Sacramento debut coincides with World Water Day (March 22). Providing water to seven states and Mexico, the endangered river becomes a metaphor for for the West's water woes in this era of maga-drought. It's a rousing call to action for water conservation, with plenty of whitewater adventure to satisfy thrill seekers. The inspiring soundtrack by Dave Matthews Band doesn't hurt either. March 21 - August 18, 2008, $10, Esquire IMAX Theatre, 1211 K St.; grandcanyonadventurefilm.com
